An optional perimeter member 16 partly surrounds the screen and can have a perimeter tube 35 which is fluid-coupled to the vertical risers 26 to form a tube assembly. Various input/out units can be optionally connected to the end of the perimeter tube 35 to carry out discharge of a fluid from the tissue portion separation by means of an exhaust tube and introduction of the fluid into the tube assembly by means of irrigation.

The first valve 3 is positionable between an open position and a closed position. A disposal tube 14 is fluidly connected to the canister 8 and includes a second valve 4 which is positionable between the open position and the closed position. A pump 11 is fluidly connected to the canister 8 and is configured to draw wound exudate from the wound pharmaceutical material 1.0 into the canister 8 when the first valve 3 is opened and the second valve 4 is closed. The pump 11 is configured to push out wound exudate from the canister 8 into the disposal tube 14 when the first valve 3 is closed and the second valve 4 is opened.

A reduced pressure control unit 260 is associated with the pressure sensor and the reduced pressure source, and is operable to receive pressure data from the pressure sensor and supply data from the reduced pressure source and determine when the reservoir is in a full/blockage condition.

The system further includes a sealing subsystem 60 for providing a fluid seal over the shaped dressing bolster and a portion of the patient's epidermis; and a reduced-pressure subsystem 80 for delivering a reduced pressure to the sealing subsystem. The reduced-pressure system may develop a force, which may include a vertical force that is realized at tissue site deeper than the epidermis or a closing force directed towards the incision. The shaped dressing bolster is shaped to evenly distribute the force.
