    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket made of a composite material for an artificial hip joint, which makes it possible to thin a liner part inside the socket as much as possible, reduces the cover amount of the socket by increasing the diameter of a spherical head, suppresses the occurrence of impingement and brings a joint operation range close to the one at the time of being healthy. SOLUTION: An acetabular cup part 10 to be fitted and fixed to the acetabulum and the liner part 11 provided on the inner surface and brought into slidable contact with the spherical head 9 are molded in the shape of an acetabular socket 2 integrated by a carbon fiber-reinforced PEEK resin. The acetabular cup part 10 is formed of a spherical shell layer made of a PEEK resin reinforced by carbon fiber woven cloth, and the liner part 11 is formed of a highly wear resistant layer made of the PEEK resin to which carbon-based nanofibers or nanotubes are added to short carbon fibers.
