    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately manage brochures to be bound at a low cost in a saddle stitching machine to support the thickness management of brochures prepared by "selective binding".
      SOLUTION: The saddle stitching machine includes a collecting line, a binding station, a cutting station and paper delivery-extraction station which are connected to one common control unit storing job data in its storage device. The cutting station 40 has a thickness measuring device 401 for measuring the thickness of a bound signature 406. The thickness measuring device 401 is connected to the control unit. In the control unit, the measured thickness is compared with a target thickness computed by a computer of the control unit, and the signature is delivered or extracted according to the compared result.
