SOLUTION: A printer controller 51 applies pseudo gradation processing such as dot concentration or dot distribution multi-value dither processing to image data so as to reduce a data quantity, the resulting image data are stored in a frame memory, and then read and a gamma correction section 52 of the engine 54 applies gamma correction to the image data for each dot. In this case, the gamma correction section 52 references dots around a noted dot so as to discriminate an environment of the surrounding dots and selects any of a plurality of kinds of gamma correction data stored in an internal memory according to the result and sets a write level of a noted dot by using the selected gamma correction data and provides an output of a corresponding write signal to a write section 53.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the number of gradations of image data to be printed out from being reduced even when the data is subjected to γ correction and enable the regeneration of stable gradational properties. SOLUTION: A CPU for an engine 54 creates an image (an image is created by cutting a specified gradation part regarding some of patterns for γ correction) in its rotating direction on a recording medium using the plural patterns for γcorrection consisting of highlighted dots whose gradations are beforehand gradually varied by the number of writing dots around the highlighted dots, as gradation patterns respectively. In addition, each of the densities of the image is detected using an photosensor and the γ correction data is created based on the detection results. After that, a γ correction part 52 interprets the environment of the highlighted dots of image data subjected to simulated gradation process from a printer controller 51, referring to the surrounding dots. Further, based on the interpretation results, the γ correction part 52 selects either of the sets of the γcorrection data, and outputs an appropriate write level signal by correcting the gradations of the highlighted dots of the image data using the selected set of the γ correction data.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color image forming device which forms an image of high image quality. SOLUTION: A developing roller 23Y is so disposed as to rotate in the same direction as a moving direction of photoreceptor at a specific peripheral speed ratio with the photoreceptor belt 1. A color developing device 6 rotates round a center O, it is arranged downstream side of an optical writing position 5A in the direction of the rotation of the photoreceptor belt 1 and upstream side of a black developing unit and, further, in such a position that a distance from the optical writing position 5A is shorter than a distance obtained by subtracting the distance of the movement of the photoreceptor belt 1 during the color switch of the color developing device 6 from the distance of non-image formation obtained by subtracting the length of the maximum transfer paper, which can be outputted, from the length of the periphery of an intermediate transfer belt. By such arrangement and operation, the color developing device 6 can be rotated when an exposure process is not carried out, therefore it does not exert effect on the drive of the photoreceptor belt 1, and trouble, such a lateral streak, does not occur on an image.
