    • PURPOSE:To prevent reduction in performances and damage of an adsorbent caused by partial heating of the adsorbent, and to desulfurize a high-temperature reducing gas stably, by making the adsorbing face of the tubular adsorbent in parallel with the gas flow of the high-temperature reducing gas, and setting a great number of flow pipes of a regenerating gas at constant intervals between a large number of adsorbents. CONSTITUTION:Sulfur compounds, especially hydrogen sulfide in a high- temperature reducing gas obtained by gasifying coal, heavy oil, etc. is subjected to a contact reaction with a metallic oxide of Fe, Zn, Mo, etc. supported on a heat-resistant porous substance such as titania, silica, etc. as an adsorbent at 250-450 deg.C, and desulfurized. In the operation, the adsorbent 2 consisting of a great number of tubular structures are set in such a way the adsorbing faces of the structures are made in parallel with the gas flow, and a great number of the flow pipes 5 of an oxygen-containing gas for regenerating the adsorbent are set at constant intervals between the adsorbents. EFFECT:This device is economically advantageous.

    • PURPOSE: To remove metals (Na, Ti, etc.) contained in coal efficiently, by treating finely ground coal with hot water and separating the water and the coal using two or more centrifugal separators operated alternately.
      CONSTITUTION: Coal is ground to a particle diameter of 0.25mm or less at a grinding stage 1 and is then mixed with water 9 in an amount by weight more than 3 times that of the ground coal at a mixing stage 2. The obtained slurry is treated at an extraction stage 3 at 100°C or above for at least 10min to undergo demetallization, and then cooled to 100°C or below at a cooling stage 4. This cooled slurry is conveyed through line 13 to a separation stage 5, where it is centrifuged (under at least about 10G) using a centrifugal separator with a filter cloth to collect the demetallized coal, and the water 15 containing extracted metals is discharged. Along with the separation stage 5 above-mentioned, a similar separation stage 6 is established where the separation is carried out alternately, switching from each other at specified operating intervals.

    • PURPOSE: To improve a regeneration effect considerably and to prolong the life of a catalyst in spite of repeated use by washing the catalyst for contact reduction and denitration of ammonia of which the performance is decreased by treatment of the waste combustion gas in an ultrasonic atmosphere.
      CONSTITUTION: A catalyst for contact reduction and denitration of ammonia of which the catalyst performance is decreased by the treatment of the waste combustion gas such as waste gas of a boiler is wsahed in an ultrasonic atmosphere to regenerate the activity of the catalyst. The waste combustion gas contg. dust contains SO
      x usually, and if resistance to SO
      x is considered, TiO
      2 , ZrO
      2 , etc. are more preferable than Al
      2 O
      3 for the catalyst carrier to be used for said waste gas. An ultrasonic wave is used in this method; therefore, not only the water soluble alkaline component but also the fine dust clogged in the fine holes of the catalyst are removed by the cavitation effect thereof.
