    • PURPOSE: To prevent sinkage and flotation of a passenger cage caused by getting-in-and-off of passengers at the time when an elevator stops by engaging a pair of arms with holding means arranged on left and right guide rails by way of driving a driving means at the time when the elevator stops. CONSTITUTION: A passenger car 10 which stops at a story floor platform 30 rotates a starting motor in the counterclockwise direction by a control device 40 before a passenger cage door opens. Consequently, a pair of arms 14 moves in the direction of a guide rail 20 along a guide 17 supported and guided on a bottom part of the passenger car 10 and engaged with a bracket 21 along a guide 23 of the bracket 21. Thereafter, the passenger cap door opens and getting-in-and-off of passengers is started. As dead weight of the passenger car 10 and weight of the passengers are all supported by the guide 17 of the passenger car 10 and the guide 23 of the bracket 21, it is possible to prevent sinkage and flotation of the passenger car 10 at the time of getting-on-and-off of the passengers due to growth of bubbles in a high pressure fluid in a cylinder 1 and expansion and contraction of a rope 8 as the high pressure fluid is supplied from a fluid pressure pump 3 and discharged from the fluid pressure cylinder 1 to a fluid tank 6.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lighten a bottom of a hoistway and a steel skeleton in the hoistway. SOLUTION: A car 12 and a balancing weight 13 are vertically movably mounted in the hoistway 11. A frame body 16 formed by a framed construction is mounted on the bottom of the hoistway 11, and a car bumper 18 or the like is mounted in the frame body 16. Upper parts of a car rail 14 and a balancing weight rail 15 are fixed to a cross beam 20, lower parts thereof are fixed to the flame body 16, and the load of the car 12 and the balancing weight 13 is supported by the frame body 16 through both rails 14, 15. A base isolation mechanism 25 is mounted between a building 10 and a foundation construction 24. Further a shielding wall 26 is mounted around the frame body 16 for preventing the outside air from flowing in the hoistway 11 through a clearance between the building 10 and the foundation construction 24. This shielding wall 26 is made of a soft heat-resisting member 26B.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor capable of suppressing nonuniform motion of a step chain without providing a slip joint on a driving device when a dispersed driving system is adopted. SOLUTION: An idler sprocket 40 and an idler sprocket 55 are provided on an upper part side forming the upstairs side and the lower part side forming the downstairs side, respectively. On the idler sprockets 40, 55 an endless step chain 6 to which steps 7 for passengers are fixed is wound. At an intermediate part of each idler sprocket 44, 55, one or a plurality of driving devices 2 for driving and braking the step chain 6 are arranged. The driving devices 2 are provided with driving gears 10 having involute tooth shapes and engaged to the step chain 6. The driving gears 10 are engaged to only a chain 6u on an upper side of the step chain 6, for instance. In the vicinities of just above of the driving devices 2 or the whole area, chain suppressing members 23 for suppressing vertical movement of the step chain 6 are provided.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with link mechanisms for interconnecting consecutive pallets from variable-speed passenger conveyors of a type where pallets are adjustable in their interval. SOLUTION: This variable-speed passenger conveyor comprises low-speed driving chains 4 engaged with pallets and driven at a constant low speed, high- speed driving chains 8 driven at a constant high speed, acceleration driving chains 6 for driving the pallets at an accelerated speed, and deceleration driving chains 10 for driving the pallets at a decelerated speed. The plural acceleration and deceleration driving chains 6 and 10 are driven by respective accelerating and decelerating motor means each actuated individually by a single motor. The accelerating and/or decelerating driving chains 6 and/or 10 are a plurality of driving chains adapted to operate at an independent speed and/or acceleration and mesh with at most one set of pallets at one time to drive them only. The variable-speed passenger conveyor is thus simplified in its acceleration/ deceleration sections.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the installation space of a moving footway, by providing a means for making the height directional dimension of a handrail when a pallet after carrying passengers reverses at an alighting place to return to a landing direction, smaller than the height directional dimension of the handrail at the time of carrying passengers. SOLUTION: A moving footway reverses at the lower part of an alighting place 9 as shown in respective pallet positions 1a-1c, after a pallet 1 moves from a right upper part to a left lower part in a figure, to carry passengers, and then moves from the left lower part to the right upper part to return to the landing. At that time, the handrail 7 is folded as shown in respective handrail positions 7a-7c, to shorten a vertical directional height dimension at the time of return. A portion where the handrail 7 appears at the landing is arranged in this side in a progress direction, than a portion where the pallet 1 appears at the landing. Moreover a drawing part, for drawing the handrail 7 at the alighting place, is arranged in a deep side in the progress direction than a drawing part for drawing the pallet 1 at the alighting place.
