    • PURPOSE: To prepare a composition for a toothpaste improved in stability of a soluble fluoride by using respective amounts of dicalcium phosphate dihydrate, a pyrophosphate complex, trimagnesium phosphate and a pharmaceutically permissible polyphosphate in combination. CONSTITUTION: This composition for a toothpaste is prepared by compounding a composition for the toothpaste comprising dicalcium phosphate dihydrate(DCPD) with (a) a pyrophosphate complex, (b) trimagnesium phosphate and (c) a pharmaceutically permissible polyphosphate to improve the stability of a soluble fluoride in the composition containing the soluble fluoride in order to suppress or retard the cariogenicity and stability to spontaneous hydrolysis and/or decomposition of the DCPD. The amounts of the ingredients are 1-5wt.%, preferably 0.5-2.5wt.% each of the ingredient (a) (expressed in terms of P2 O5 ) and the ingredient (b) and 0.1-3wt.%, preferably 0.3-2wt.% of the ingredient (c) based on the weight of the DCPD. Thereby, the resultant composition is capable of providing a large amount of the soluble fluoride even after long-term storage.

    • PURPOSE: To provide a particle size measuring method by which the particle size distribution of a granular material containing particles of 0.05-10 m in diameter can be obtained by dispersing the material in a liquid dispersing medium and filling up a sample cell with a transparent liquid having miscibility with the medium and a narrow band of a dispersing liquid, and then, measuring the absorbancy when the granular material is moved under the influence of a centrifugal force. CONSTITUTION: A sample cell 2 to be tested and a reference cell 3 are inserted into a centrifuge disk 1 and parallel rays of light 4 are led to the sample cell 2, and then, only nonscattered light is led to a photodetector 6 through an opening 5. A dispersing liquid band 8 is floated on a transparent layer of a settling fluid 7 in the cell 2 and the cell 2 is sealed with a Teflon plug 9 having grooves on both sides so that the band 8 can be positioned immediately below the plug 9. Then the particle size distribution in the sample cell 2 is decided by obtaining absorbancy data by repositioning the band 8 to the top end or bottom end of the cell 2 and moving the particles in the dispersing liquid to the opposite end section side by driving the disk 1.
