    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide realistic feedback to create greater sensory immersion within a virtual environment.SOLUTION: A system in which haptic effects are generated using an actuator receives 810 a frequency response for the actuator at a standard voltage and generates 820 a lookup table for an overdrive voltage based on the frequency response. The system then receives 830 a haptic signal for the haptic effect and extracts 840 one or more frequencies for the haptic signal. The system then determines 850 the corresponding overdrive voltage from the lookup table for each of the frequencies and, for each of the frequencies, applies 860 the corresponding overdrive voltage to the actuator. The overdrive voltage is greater than or equal to the standard voltage.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate dynamic haptic effects for dynamic events.SOLUTION: A system that generates a dynamic haptic effect for a dynamic event receives a first endpoint and a second endpoint for dynamic events. The first endpoint includes a first endpoint value and a corresponding first haptic effect, and the second endpoint includes a second endpoint value and a corresponding second haptic effect. The system receives a dynamic value for the dynamic event. The dynamic value is between the first endpoint value and the second endpoint value. The system then determines the dynamic haptic effect from the dynamic value by interpolating the dynamic haptic effect from the first haptic effect and the second haptic effect.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for adaptively interpreting intention of a user on the basis of a parameter given from a touch-sensitive input device.SOLUTION: In one method, a processor receives a pressure signal indicating pressure from an input device, such as a touch pad, compares pseudo pressure with a pressure threshold value, and outputs a signal if the pseudo pressure is greater than the pressure threshold value. In another embodiment, the processor calculates speed of movement of a conductor, for instance a finger of a user, moving on the input device, and compares the speed with a threshold. If the speed is greater than the threshold, the processor determines that even if the pressure is great enough to issue a signal of depression, no depression is intended. Various parameters provided by the input device are subjected to digital filtering processing to accurately determine intention of a user.
