    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small fire engine utilizing a light car which causes little noise from its transmission mechanism, is easy to operate, needs little repair work, and can be operated even by women. SOLUTION: This small fire engine comprises a light car equipped with a PTO mechanism 2 and carrying a water-discharging main pump 4 and a water-suction vacuum pump. A transmission mechanism 3 driven by a V-belt 3c having pulleys 3a, 3b placed between a transmission shaft 2a leading from the PTO mechanism 2 and the rotating shaft 4a of the main pump 4 is formed, and the main pump 4 is formed into a two-stage turbine pump equipped with two impellers. A mechanical seal is provided at the bearing part of the main pump 4 for the shaft, and a motor-driven drain 4b operated interlocking with the clutch of the PTO mechanism 2 is placed on the bottom of the main pump 4. An electromagnetic clutch connected to the transmission mechanism 2 and a vacuum pump operated interlocking with the electromagnetic clutch are installed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of clutch operations for engaging and disengaging an auxiliary power takeoff by driving a clutch-operating actuator on the basis of detection signals that are output from vehicle speed detection means and from shift position detection means in response to an auxiliary power takeoff command. SOLUTION: If detection signals output from a vehicle speed sensor and a neutral switch 63 in response to the turning on of a PTO switch 44 indicate that the vehicle speed is zero and that the shift position is at neutral, an auxiliary power takeoff actuator 28 is driven after the disconnection of a clutch to cause an auxiliary power takeoff gear to mesh with a drive gear, after which a clutch-operating actuator 80 is driven to connect the clutch. After the clutch is disconnected, the auxiliary power takeoff actuator 28 is driven in response to the turning off of the PTO switch 44 to disengage the auxiliary power takeoff gear from the driving gear, after which the clutch-operating actuator 80 is driven to connect the clutch.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of clutch operations without adding any special mechanisms by driving an auxiliary power takeoff actuator so that an auxiliary power takeoff gear meshes with a drive gear if the vehicle speed is zero, the shift position is at neutral, and the clutch has been disconnected. SOLUTION: This auxiliary power takeoff is provided with vehicle speed sensors 61, 62 for detecting vehicle speed, a neutral switch 63 for detecting the shift position of a transmission 14, and a clutch switch 40 for detecting the disconnection of the clutch by a clutch pedal. A control circuit is provided which drives an auxiliary power takeoff actuator 28 so that an auxiliary power takeoff gear 22 meshes with a drive gear 26 if signals that are output from the vehicle speed sensors 61, 62, the neutral switch 63, and the clutch switch 40 in response to an auxiliary power takeoff command issued by a PTO switch 44 indicate that the vehicle speed is zero, that the shift position is at neutral, and that the clutch has been disconnected.
