CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a setting part 2 for setting the starting angle, ending angle and radius of a circular arc corresponding to input information, transformed matrix/approximate error setting part 3 for setting the transformed matrix of two rows and two columns to transform the circular arc to the elliptic arc and an approximation error, and approximation error calculation part 4 for calculating the approximation error at the time of transforming the circular arc to the elliptic arc corresponding to the set circular arc and transformed matrix and for deciding how many third-order Bezier curves are required for expressing the elliptic arc in comparison with the set approximation error. On the other hand, the device is provided with a Bezier curve expression part 6 for expressing the elliptic arc with the third- order Bezier curve basing on this decision and for calculating the respective control points of curves, and plotting processing part 10 for transforming the respective control points calculated by this curve expression part 6 and for plotting the elliptic arc with desired accuracy corresponding to those respective transformed control points and an error from an error input part 9.

If a pattern of the breaking manner set in the pattern table 5 exists in the vector font generated by the vectorizing means 3, a recognition means 4 reports the correction contents number, which is stored correspondingly to this pattern, to a correction means 6. Correction contents are stored in a correction table 7 correspondingly to correction contents numbers. The correction means 6 refers to the correction table 7 to correct the break existing in curve parts of the vector font in accordance with correction contents corresponding to the reported correction contents number.

    • PURPOSE:To speed up the geometrical processing in a three dimensional Bezier curve interpolating control points with a smooth curve for four control pints given on the curve. CONSTITUTION:The distance discrimination between the control point and the calculated point is performed in a comparator 7 every time when the point on the three-dimensional Bezier curve is calculated for the given four control points. During the discrimination by the comparator 7, an arithmetic unit 4 starts recursive processing in advance without waiting for the discrimination result. It continues the processing as it is when the discrimination by the comparator 7 does not meet the condition, and if it meets the condition, the arithmetic units 4 and a shifter 5 are cleared and a pointer control circuit 8 restarts the processing for the control point of a pointer 3 which is newly set. Thus, the waiting time of the arithmetic unit 4 is reduced and the generation of the free curve is speeded up.
