摘要： PURPOSE:To detect the presence or absence of water infiltration at a number of infiltration detection points by one optical fiber by disposing an optical fiber connecting part at one infiltration detection point and by measuring a fluctuation period of a Fresnel reflection light from fluctuation of a reflected light of a light pulse sent from one end. CONSTITUTION:While delivering a light pulse repeatedly with a wavelength varied, a light pulse tester 9 receives a reflected light and obtains measured data corresponding to each connector 8. The place of installation of each connector 8 is known beforehand, and in a processing element 10, a difference between the level of a Fresnel reflection light and that of a Rayleigh scattering light is calculated with respect to each measured wavelength for each connector 8. As the result, the data on wavelength dependence of Fresnel reflectivity are obtained for each connector 8 and a fluctuation period is calculated. With the measured wavelength used, the fluctuation periods before and after inundation are corrected by a gap measured beforehand, and the presence or absence of the infiltration is discriminated on the basis of the value of the fluctuation period thus obtained.

摘要： PURPOSE:To enable detection of water infiltration in a closure accurately by a method wherein a float floats with an infiltration of water in the closure to pull up an optical fiber. A disc-shaped changer 4 is mounted movably at the optical fiber part and a float 5 is linked to the hanger 4. A base body of a water infiltration detecting sensor is fastened on a floor within a closure 8 in which a connection part 7 of an optical fiber cable 6 is housed. When a water infiltration occurs in the closure 8, the float 5 floats and a tension is applied on the fiber 1 between fixing devices 3 so that the fiber 1 comes in contact with the two fixing devices 3 and the hanger 4 to form a bending with a specified curvature. A light transmitter/receiver is mounted at an end of the fiber 1 to measure a light loss caused by the bending of the fiber 1.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve the resolution of the meter by embedding an optical-fiber loop in a measuring region, fixing the loop, branching the optical signal, combining the beams coming out from the loop and measuring the difference in the phase between the beams in the two directions. CONSTITUTION:A single-mode optical fiber is used in the optical-fiber loop 4, and sensor parts are formed to surround a fault line 7. The sensor parts are embedded in the base rocks 1 and 2, etc., of the different crustal blocks whose mutual movements are to be measured. An expandable mortar 3 is further filled around the loop 4. A ditch 5 is dug as deep as possible (>=about 1m) to avoid the effect of atmospheric temp. The loop 4 thus embedded is used in an optical-fiber gyro, and the relative movement between the base rocks 1 and 2 due to the creep movement is measured.
