    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular differential gear unit which has large differential restricting force for restricting the differential rotation of a pair of sun gears.
      SOLUTION: In this vehicular differential gear unit, a pair of sun gears 3 and 4 having helix teeth and at least one pair of planetary gears 5 and 6 are provided in a housing 2 to be driven for rotation around an axis L of rotation, and the planetary gears 5 and 6 are engaged with the sun gears 3 and 4 and engaged with each other. The sun gears 3 and 4 are respectively divided into two of outside parts 3A and 4A and inside parts 3B and 4B. The inner peripheral surfaces of the outside parts 3A and 4A are respectively formed with spline holes 3c and 4c having the helical teeth. The outer peripheral surfaces of the inside parts 3B and 4B are respectively formed with spline parts 3d and 4d to be fitted in the spine holes 3c and 4c. The working direction of thrust force to be generated between engaged tooth flanks of the spline holes 3c and 4c and the spline parts 3d and 4d are set to be the same direction with the working direction of thrust force to be generated between engaged tooth flanks of the sun gears 3 and 4 and the planetary gears 5 and 6.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise and vibration of a vehicular differential gear device equipped with a planetary gear mechanism.
      SOLUTION: A sun gear 6 having helical teeth is rotatably fitted on a concentric circle inside an internal tooth gear having helical teeth. A plurality of planetary gears 8 having helical teeth and held to a planetary carrier 10 are arranged between the internal tooth gear 4 and the sun gear 6 and meshed with the internal tooth gear 4 and the sun gear 6. In operation, differential limiting is performed by frictional resistance between a tip surface 8a of the planetary gear 8 and a planetary gear holding part of the planetary carrier 10. A large number of micro recesses are formed in an irregular state on the tip surface 8a and an axial end face 8b of the planetary gear 8. Since the recesses are not formed as a continuous groove but formed in pocket shape, lubricating oil can be surely held. The wear resistance and seizure resistance of the planetary gear 8 and planetary carrier 10 are thereby improved, and noise and vibration are reduced.
