    • PURPOSE:To enhance a transfer coefficient by a method wherein heating elements are arranged in proximity of the end of a substrate, and a transfer medium is released from a medium subjected to transfer at the end part of the substrate on which the heating elements are arranged. CONSTITUTION:Heating elements 22 are formed in proximity to an end part 20a on a main surface of a substrate of a thermal head 20. In transferring, a transfer medium 6 and a medium to be subjected to transfer 8 are overlapped with each other and depressed on the heating elements 22 by a platen 4. The surface of a substrate 24 is covered with a glass glaze layer 26, and thereon a resistor layer 28 and an electrode layer 30 are successively formed. In this manner, the heating elements 22 and electrodes 30a, 30b are formed. The electrode 30a serving as a common electrode and the electrode 30b serving as a selective electrode are coated with a protective film 32. The substrate end part 20a is provided with a chamfered part 20b. A favorable transfer coefficient can be obtained when a distance D from the ends of the heating elements 22 to the substrate end 20a is 500mum or less.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of creases by a method wherein an ink sheet is sent to a printing unit under a condition that the sheet is provided with a tension and printing is effected while the sheet is cut after printing so as to be separated into a plurality of parts in the widthwise direction of the same and, then, the separated parts are reeled around an ink sheet reeling roll differently respectively. CONSTITUTION:An ink sheet 8, fed by a feed roll 7, is provided with a tension by two sets of tension rollers 9, 10 and is reeled around a reeling roll 11 through a passage between a recording head 6 and a platen drum 1. A cutting device 12 for cutting the ink sheet 8 or a cutting roller, for example, is provided at a position after the ink sheet 8 passed a printing position effected by a recording head 6. The ink sheet 8 is moved together with the platen drum 1 and when the sheet 8 is separated from the position of printing effected by the recording head 6, the sheet 8 is guided to a cutting device 12 and is separated by cutting by an edge 18 into desired widths. A plurality of separated belt type ink sheet pieces is reeled around the collars 15 of the reeling roll 11 separately respectively.

    • PURPOSE:To enhance the ink utilization efficiency of an ink film and to reduce the wastefulness of ink by judging whether the data subjected to recording is present in a image data signal of one line and controlling driving so that the feed of the thermal transfer ink film is stopped when there is no data to be recorded and executed when there is the data to be recorded. CONSTITUTION:When a judge circuit 5 outputs a judge signal of 'data presence', the motor driving mechanism of a transfer film 2 is controlled so as to be driven in order to feed the transfer film 2 and, when said circuit 5 outputs a judge signal of 'data absence', mechanism of the transfer film 2 is controlled so as to be stopped in order to stop the feed of the transfer film. Therefore, when all of the image data of a line to be recorded are 'white', the feed of the transfer film 2 is not performed in said line and only a line having image data of 'black' is fed to be subjected to recording. Therefore, the unnecessary feed of the transfer film 2 in a line performing no recording is eliminated and the utilization efficiency of the transfer film 2 is enhanced drastically.

    • PURPOSE:To form an end mark when occasion demands during machining of a slit, to simplify a process, and to prevent increase of a percent defective, by a method wherein a label laminating means to laminate a label having a previously formed end mark is situated between a feed part and a cutter. CONSTITUTION:A sheet material 2 is unwound from a feed part 1, and sheet materials in each row slit to a given width by means of a cutter 3 are respectively wound around winding shafts 4A and 4B. At a point of time when a given amount of the sheet material is wound around each of the winding shafts 4A and 4B, a label laminating means 7 laminates a label 9 to the sheet material 2. Namely, with a drive roll 15 rotated, a tape 10 with a label is unwound from a feed roll 11. The tape 10 is turned over at the tip part of a peel plate 14, but the label 9 is not turned over due to rigidity, and is peeled from a base material tape 8 and protruded. A press roll 17 is moved forward by a roll moving device 18, and the protruded label 9 is pressed against the sheet material 2 under running. As a result, an adhesive layer part being the back of the label 9 is laminated to the sheet material 2 under running, and is peeled from the tape 8.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a recording image having excellent friction resistance and showing smooth image quality, by applying the transfer recording of ink to image receiving paper and subsequently re-heating said paper to temp. equal to or more than the m.p. of the ink to change the area of the transferred ink. CONSTITUTION:Transfer recording ink is heated along with image receiving paper 4 so as to reach the m.p. thereof or more so as to flow on the image receiving paper 4. Therefore, a dot height is lowered and a dot area is widened. The collision of a friction element with an ink projection is reduced and the bending moment in the ink is also reduced while the shearing strength of the ink is increased by an increase in a cross-sectional area. By increasing a dot area, the white area of the image receiving paper 4 is reduced and the contamination of white part of the image receiving paper by the collapse of the ink of a dot or the readhesion of the ink contaminating the friction element is as most eliminated. The change of gradation is set to density gradation expressed by an ink thickness and image quality is enhanced in color reproducibility and image smoothness.
