摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for performing hot shifting operation from a first version service (client application, a data manager and a data repository) using a first data model without causing the inoperative state of application and the ineffectiveness of a client session to a second version service using a second data model on a server device suitable for parallel processing.
SOLUTION: The client application of a second version, the data manager of the second version and the data repository of the second version in cooperation with the data manager of the second version are installed. The data managers of the first and second versions respectively have shifting plug in. A progressive role over process for converting data from a first data repository to a second repository by the shifting plug in is used until an old version becomes removable as the result that all the pieces of data are converted consecutively.

摘要： A method and mechanism for managing data in a distributed computing system. A television system is configured to convey audio/video/interactive data to receiving devices. Data conveyed to the receiving devices are structured as modules, with a main directory module indicating those modules which make up, or are used by, a particular application. Changes to data being conveyed to receiving devices are initially indicated by conveying delta directory modules to the receiving devices which identify updates to a corresponding main directory module. Changes indicated by a delta directory module are applied to the corresponding main directory module, which in turn may effect changes in the data used by the application. Delta directories may generally only include sufficient information to identify the changes and may be smaller than the corresponding main directory.
