    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device and its control method that secure the operation area without enlarging the mounting area of an interface with which user performs input, can perform operation according to the intention of a user, and have excellent operability.
SOLUTION: This portable electronic device comprises a first sensor element group and a second sensor element group that are arranged entirely annularly and have continuously arranged sensor elements for detecting contact, and a control section capable of executing first control where these sensor element groups perform respective control. The control section starts the contact detection in one sensor element of one of the sensor element groups, continues the continuous detection of continuously detecting the contact of the sensor element adjacent to the one sensor element to an end of one sensor element group, detects the continuing of the continuous detection from the end of the other sensor element group in the other sensor element group adjacent to the end of the one sensor element group, and can execute second control different from the first control.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a configuration and to improve visibility of a lamp section.
SOLUTION: Electronic equipment is provided with: a base chassis in which each section is integrally formed from a transparent material, and whose both faces are formed as a first attaching face 5a and a second attaching face 5b respectively; a display unit 6 including a display panel 21 which is fitted to the first attaching face section of the base chassis; a control circuit substrate 7 which is fitted to the second attaching face of the base chassis; a rear cover 8 which is fitted to the second attaching face of the base chassis and covers the control circuit substrate; and a substrate 16 for mounting elements, in which semiconductor light emitting elements 17 are arranged. A light storage lamp section 13 for receiving and emitting light which is emitted from the semiconductor light emitting elements and transmitted through the base chassis, is formed at a position outside of the display unit on the base chassis.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator capable of suitably illuminating a transmissive or reflective liquid crystal display device by eliminating the need of a light guide plate, and reducing the thickness of the liquid crystal display device thereby making equipment low in profile.
SOLUTION: The transmissive liquid crystal display device 6 mounted on a camera main body 1 and a light source 105 to light the liquid crystal display device are provided. The liquid crystal display device 6 is supported so as to be rotatable in relation to the camera main body 1 and to protrude in a direction toward the display surface. Illuminating light is emitted from the light source 105 toward the inside of a void S produced between the rear surface of the liquid crystal display device 6 and the camera main body 1 with the move. The rear surface of the liquid crystal display device 6 is uniformly illuminated with the light guided to the inside of the void S. Because it is not necessary to arrange a thick light guide plate to guide the light to the rear surface of the liquid crystal display device 6, the thickness of the liquid crystal display device including the illuminator is reduced, thereby making the camera low in profile.
