    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve suction distribution at scroll intake openings of scroll casings in a blowing device and an air conditioner with a centrifugal blower comprising impellers and the scroll casing and disposed in a unit casing having a unit intake opening.
      SOLUTION: The air conditioner 1 comprises the centrifugal blower 3 and the unit casing 2 storing the centrifugal blower 3. The centrifugal blower 3 includes the impellers 31a-31d and the scroll casings 32a-32d storing the respective impellers 31a-31d. The unit casing 2 has the unit intake opening 2a opened in a direction intersecting with opening directions of the scroll openings 34a-34d. Swelling parts 61a-61d with inner surfaces having a shape uniform in circumferential directions and with portions of outer surfaces remote from the unit intake opening 2a having a shape swelling on opposite sides to the impellers are formed on peripheries of the scroll intake openings 34a-34d of the scroll casings 32a-32d.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce vibration and noises produced by an air conditioner and to raise the heat exchanging performance, by dividing a plurality of centrifugal fans having respectively a spiral casing into two groups driven independently from each other by motors disposed on both sides, and diverging the outlet opening of each casing in the manner that the tops of the outlet openings of the adjacent casings are connected with each other. CONSTITUTION:Impellers 6a-6d of centrifugal fans 5a-5d respectively having spiral casings 7a-7d are divided into two groups of (6a, 6b) and (6c, 6d), and these two groups of impellers are driven independently by motors 12a, 12b disposed on both sides. Further, the outlet opening 11 of each casing is diverged toward the top in the manner that the tops of the outlet openings of adjacent casings are connected to each other. With such an arrangement, the flow rate of air discharged from the plurality of outlet openings is made uniform by driving the two motors 12a, 12b at the same speed. Further, since air is discharged from four outlet opening 11, the velocity of air flow through a heat exchanger 4 is also made uniform in the axial direction, so that air is supplied quietly.
