    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform printing up to the end of printing paper without making ink droplets reach a platen.SOLUTION: The platen 26 of a printer includes an upstream-side supporting section 26sf, an upstream-side groove 26f, a central supporting section 26c, and a downstream-side groove 26r in this order from the upstream side in the subsidiary scanning direction. The printer performs printing only by a fourth nozzle group Nr facing the downstream-side groove 26r with respect to the upper end of the printing paper, and performs the printing only by a second nozzle group Nh facing the upstream-side groove 26f with respect to the lower end of the printing paper. In addition, the printer performs upper end transition processing in which the printing is performed by using all the nozzle groups in the same manner as the central section by the same subsidiary scanning feed as the upper end between the printing processing for the upper end and the central section. Furthermore, the printer performs lower end transition processing in which the printing is performed by using the nozzle groups Nh, Ni and Nr by performing the same subsidiary scanning feed as the lower end between the printing processing with respect to the central section and the lower end. By performing the transition processing, upper end processing, central processing an lower end processing can smoothly be performed without performing the reverse feed of subsidiary scanning.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus including a platen provided with a suction-collection section which collects ink, wherein image quality deterioration due to cockling caused by the insufficient suction force in the suction-collection section on the inside of a recording medium is prevented, and also, image quality deterioration at the end portion of the recording medium caused by excessive wind speed in the suction-collection section on the outside of the recording medium is prevented.
SOLUTION: The inkjet recording apparatus includes the platen provided with the suction-collection section which sucks in and collects the ink left outside the end portion of the recording medium. The inkjet recording apparatus includes: a collecting suction force generation means configured to enable the suction-collection section to generate suction force; a collection flow path connecting the suction-collection section to the collecting suction force generation means; and a flow path control means configured to vary the opening area of the collection flow path. The opening area of the collection flow path is varied according to an image forming time or a type of the recording medium.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus, system and method for ejecting liquid, which allows starting and ending positions for ejecting liquid to be set appropriately.
SOLUTION: The liquid ejecting apparatus is provided with a controller which executes position determination control for determining at least one of the starting position and the ending position for ejecting liquid from a moving ejection head onto a medium that is fed by a feed mechanism. The position determination control by the controller for ejecting the liquid from the ejection head to a region within a predetermined range from a front edge or a rear edge in a feed direction of the medium is different from that for ejecting the liquid from the ejection head to a central region in the feed direction of the medium.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet end detecting apparatus capable of accurately detecting an end position of a sheet being conveyed such as a recording sheet, the device being easily manufactured thereby reducing manufacturing cost, an image recorder, and a method for detecting the end position of the recording sheet by using the sheet end detecting apparatus.
SOLUTION: The sheet end detecting apparatus 40 comprises a conveying roller 27 and an encoder 41. Between the roller 27 and its peripheral surface 27b, a first pressure-electricity converting strip terminal 42 which is strip-shaped and detects a contact with the recording paper P elongates in the direction of the axis core 27a so as to reach inside and outside of a contacting region 23, which is on the periphery surface 27b that contacts with the recording paper P, and also elongates so as to revolve around the axis core 27a. Further, with respect to the first pressure-electricity converting strip terminal 42, the position in the axis core 27a direction at any point in its elongation direction corresponds with the phase around the axis core 27a in one-to-one manner.
