    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively use the peripheral space by contracting an appliance body in a small shape in cooking of a small quantity by constituting the appliance body so as to be expandable/contractible to the size corresponding to the size of respective cooking plates. SOLUTION: An electric cooking appliance has expandably/contractibly constituted one appliance body 1 and first/second two cooking plates different in the size. For example, when cooking a small quantity of foodstuffs, a movable member 5 of the appliance body 1 is slid inside to contract the appliance body 1, and the second cooking plate 3 having a small external shape is stored to be placed on a heater 19. At this cooking time, the external shape of the appliance body 1 is put in a compact contracted state according to quantity of cooking, and thus, the appliance body 1 is not bulky when placing and using the cooking appliance on a table, so that the space can be effectively used by securing an allowance space on the periphery of the appliance body 1.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make efficiently heatable the whole body of an ironing surface by making a mounting base of an iron main body include a heating means which induction-heats the ironing surface, and feeding a high frequency current to the heating means through an inverter means, and at the same time, forming the heating means into an approx. oval shape in the longitudinal direction of the ironing surface. SOLUTION: An iron main body 1 is placed on the mounting section 6 of a mounting base 5, and when an operation section 12 formed on one side of the mounting base 5 is operated, an inverter driving means being built in the mounting base 5 operates, and by turning on/off of a switching element, a high frequency current is made to flow to a heating coil 7 which is arranged along the mounting surface 6 of the mounting base 5. Then, a high frequency magnetic field is generated in the vicinity of the heating coil 7, and an eddy current is generated on the ironing surface 2 of the iron main body 1 which is confronted with the heating coil 7, and the ironing surface 2 becomes hot and is heated. In this case, the heating coil 7 is formed into a longitudinal oval shape in the longitudinal direction of the ironing surface 2 so that the heating coil 7 may internally come into contact with the ironing surface 2 being formed into an approx. triangular shape, and thus, a wide range of the ironing surface 2 can be heated.
