    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP realizing an image display of high quality by achieving uniformity of the height of the barrier ribs of fine discharge cells having parallel-cross shape barrier ribs capable of high definition display.
      SOLUTION: This is the PDP which has a front plate in which a display electrode, a dielectric layer, and a protection layer are formed on a glass substrate and a rear plate in which a data electrode, a barrier rib, and a phosphor layer are formed on the substrate oppositely arranged, and by sealing the surroundings, a discharge space is formed. The barrier rib 34 is constituted of a vertical barrier rib 34a arranged in parallel with the data electrode and a horizontal barrier rib 34b arranged so as to cross the vertical barrier rib 34a, and is provided with an intersection part 34c where the vertical barrier rib 34a and the horizontal barrier rib 34b intersect. The cross-sectional area of at least one of the vertical barrier rib 34a and the horizontal barrier rib 34b of the portion forming the intersection part 34c is made smaller than the cross-section area of the other portions of the vertical barrier rib 34a and the horizontal barrier rib 34b.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which improves the impact resistance of a front glass substrate, without having to increase the thickness of the glass substrate.
      SOLUTION: The image display device is equipped with a plasma display panel 10 arranged opposite to a front plate 11 and a back plate 12, and forms the surface on the front plate 11 side as the image display surface. The front plate 11 is formed to a projecting shape on the image display surface side so that, even if impact is applied to the glass substrate of the front plate 11 formed into a projection shape, generation of cracks in the plasma display panel 10 can be suppressed, by reducing the tensile stress generated in the glass substrate of the back plate 12 due to the impact.
