    • PURPOSE:To obtain a double wall tank having high secondary safety without requiring liquid-proof bank by providing prestressed concrete exterior wall integrally on the outer face of wall at the existing tank. CONSTITUTION:In order to prestress an existing tank 1, a supporting pile 14 for supporting load is driven at the design position then ''Diibel'' 16 is welded with predetermined interval to the side wall 4 and reinforcing bars 17 are arranged while sheath 18 is arranged horizontally up and down as material for applying prestress. Thereafter PC rod and DC wire 19 are inserted into each sheath 18 as material for applying prestress and tensioned to predetermined degree thereafter filled with mortal and cured to form prestressed concrete exterior wall 20 making contact with the side wall 4.

    • PURPOSE:To provide simple and easy operation for re-application of prestress by inserting a prestressing material in tensed condition in a specific number of sheaths and by leaving the other sheaths unstressed for application of prestress afterward. CONSTITUTION:PC wires 9 as prestressing material are inserted in every other circumferentially running sheaths 8' and are tensed and filled with mortar. The other sheaths 8' are left empty. PC rods 10 are inserted in all vertically running sheaths 8, where the bottoms of the rods 10 are fixed, and half of these sheaths 8 are left unfilled. Even through the prestress is loosened by heating, reapplication thereof is obtained by inserting PC wires 9 in the circumferential unfilled sheaths 8' and filling the vertical non-prestressed PC wires 10 with mortar.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a low-temperature liquid from producing any effect on the environments even when it is leaked out, by a method wherein an annular nozzle pipe is provided at a lower part of the space between a side cold insulant and an inner tank, and a pump for supplying liquid nitrogen is connected to the nozzle pipe. CONSTITUTION:An annular nozzle pipe 19 is provided at the lower part of the space 12 between a side cold insulant 6 and an inner tank 10, pumps 23, 27 for supplying liquid nitrogen from a liquid nitrogen source 21 are connected to the pipe 19, a low-temperature liquid detector 29 is provided at a lower part of the space 12, and the pumps 23, 27 are operated by a signal from the detector 29. Even if a low-temperature liquid is unexpectedly leaked from the interior of the inner tank 10 to the space 12, the pumps 23, 27 are operated by the signal from the detector 29, and liquid nitrogen is supplied into the space 12, so that liquid nitrogen is preferentially evaporated, thereby preventing the low-temperature liquid from being evaporated. Accordingly, even when the low-temperature liquid is leaked out, it does not cause any disaster nor produce any malacious effects on the environments.
