    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make image density uniform by keeping toner concentration constant even when transfer material is of a type that the electrified amount of developer is lowered because of much paper powder or calcium carbonate. SOLUTION: When a main switch is turned on, whether or not information on the type of the paper P is inputted in an operation part (control panel) (by a user or a serviceman) is checked before forming a reference image (S15). When it is not inputted, a constant K is set (S16). After toner density VT in a copy is detected thereafter, toner concentration VT' is calculated by subtracting K from the detected toner concentration VT in a pseudo manner (S17) and is compared with VTreft', then toner is supplied based on the obtained result.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus keeping the surface of an electrifying roller in a clean state over a long period of time, preventing soil from adhering to the surface of the electrifying roller or a brush cleaner again, and preventing faulty electrification caused by the accumulation of the soil of the surface of the electrifying roller over a long period of time.
      SOLUTION: When a photoreceptor (1) is reversely rotated, the electrifying roller (9) is reversely rotated with the photoreceptor (1) but the brush cleaner (10) is not rotated with the photoreceptor (1). When the photoreceptor (1) is normally rotated, bias is not applied to the roller (9) until a contact nip between the roller (9) and the cleaner (10) comes into contact with the photoreceptor (1) once or more, whereby the soil is prevented from adhering to the roller (9) again. A one-way clutch (11) is used as the rotating mechanism of the cleaner (10).
