    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for crystallizing a vitamin D derivative represented by formula (I), the method being carried out more economically and in a shorter time than the conventional technique.SOLUTION: A crude vitamin D derivative represented by formula (I) is dissolved, at room temperature, in a carboxylic acid (acetic acid or propionic acid) at a proportion of 1 g of the former to 10-50 ml of the latter, and then an adequate poor solvent (hydrocarbon or water) is added to deposit the crystal of the vitamin D derivative. Then, the deposited crystal is filtrated and dried to gain the crystal of the vitamin D derivative which is high in purity. The method gains the objective crystal at a shorter time and at a higher yield than the conventional method.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining crystalline docetaxel trihydrate by suspending anhydrous crystalline docetaxel in water and subsequently filtering and drying it.
      SOLUTION: Anhydrous crystalline docetaxel is suspended in 1-100 volume equivalent of water, preferably in 10-50 volume equivalent of water in the presence of an organic acid such as formic acid, acetic acid or the like, to form a crystal, which is filtered and dried under a condition of a temperature of room temperature to 60°C and 1-300 mmHg to give crystalline docetaxel trihydrate having qualities permitting use thereof as a pharmaceutical ingredient. As it is not necessary to leave water for hydration while removing a solvent used for crystallization unlike conventional methods, the control of the drying process can be quite easy.
