    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developer having an increased charge amount without increasing the amount of a charge adjusting agent or a dispersant which decreases fixing characteristics of the toner particles, and exhibiting excellent dot reproducibility while reducing image deletion or doubled image. SOLUTION: As the liquid developer includes toner particles containing a colorant and a resin dispersed in a non-aqueous solvent having an electric resistance of not less than 10 9 Ω cm, charges of charged toner particles are inhibited from moving and decrease in charging characteristics are suppressed even without adding a dispersant or a charge control agent that is an external additive causing reduction in the fixing efficiency. By using a non-aqueous solvent having a dielectric constant of 4.0 to 15.0, which means high polarity, as a carrier liquid 91Y, 91M, 91C, 91K, positive charges are easily imparted to the toner particles and more positive charges are retained. Therefore, liquid developers 100Y, 100M, 100C, 100K having a large charge amount and excellent dot reproducibility with reduced image deletion or a doubled image are obtained.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can achieve miniaturization by collecting a liquid developer from a developing device without using a collection means such as a conveyance pump. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes: a developing device 14 having a developer carrier 31 forming a toner image on an image carrier 10, developer supply parts 32 and 33 supplying the liquid developer to the developer carrier 31, and a collection path 40 collecting the liquid developer which has not been supplied from the developer supply pats 32 and 33 to the developer carrier 31; a collection container 70 capable of directly communicating with the collection path 40, and for collecting the liquid developer from the collection path 40; and a switching means 80 for switching states between a communication state in which the collection path 40 and the collection container 70 communicate with each other when the developing device 14 is attached to an apparatus body 1A and a non-communication state in which the collection path 40 and the collection container 70 do not communicate with each other when the developing device 14 is detached from the apparatus body 1A.
