The alloy especially for providing a sawtooth wire which allows an economical production, a high tolerance to wearing and smooth surface, contains 0.93-1.10 wt.% of carbon, 0.15-0.35 wt.% of silicon, 0.20-0.45 wt.% of manganese and 1.35-1.60 wt.% of chromium.
