    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved concept for decoding a reception signal in a radio communications system.SOLUTION: A receiver comprises a signal determination part, a soft information determination part, and a soft information decoding part. The signal determination part determines a complex reception value of a reception signal received from a relay station. The soft information determination part further acquires soft information represented by a combination of a first probability value and a second probability value. The first probability value is obtained by adding the value of each symbol of a modulation alphabet including the same first bit value in the same bit position of the symbol according to an overall probability density function, where each symbol of the modulation alphabet represents at least two bits. The second probability value is obtained by adding the value of each symbol of the modulation alphabet including the same second bit value in the same bit position of the symbol according to the overall probability density function. The soft information decoding part further decodes payload data contained in the reception signal based on the obtained soft information.
