    • PURPOSE:To simplify construction so as to prevent weld deposition of contact points, degradation and damage of components by commonly an inverter circuit when a commercial power supply is electrified and interrupted, and making one inverter circuit to be always in a state of connection to a lamp. CONSTITUTION:There are provided an inverter circuit 2 driven by D.C. power supply and for lighting a lamp L by means of a high frequency output and a voltage stepdown circuit 3 for outputting DC with its voltage lower than that of commercial power supply AC by using the commercial power supply as its power supply source. There is also provided supply switching circuit 4 by which, when power supply is electrified, the output of a voltage stepdown circuit 3 is made the power supply of the inverter circuit 2, and when the power supply is interrupted, an enclosed battery B is made the power supply of the inverter circuit 2. Therefore, one inverter circuit 2 is commonly used for both cases of the commercial power supply electrification and interruption and the inverter circuit 2 is always in a state of connection to the lamp L. Thus degradation and damage of components are prevented, and simplification and miniaturization of construction can be realized.

    • PURPOSE:To switch a power supply from a commercial AC power supply to a battery quickly when the service of the commercial power supply is interrupted by a method wherein an output is supplied by the commercial AC power supply in an ordinary state and, when the service is interrupted, the output is supplied by the battery. CONSTITUTION:In an ordinary state wherein a commercial AC power supply 1 is normal, the AC of the commercial AC power supply is rectified by a rectifying circuit 2, smoothed by a smoothing capacitor C3, etc., converted into a radio frequency AC by an inverter part 3 and one (FL1) of discharge lamps is lit. A noncontact current detecting and switching means 12 turns a transistor Q4 off and discontinues the oscillation of an inverter part 6. A battery 4 is charged by the commercial AC power supply 1. If the service of the commercial AC power supply 1 is interrupted, a switch 9 is closed and the charge of a capacitor C16 is discharged. With this constitution, the charge of the smoothing capacitor 16 is discharged immediately after the service interruption and a current is applied to the noncontact current detecting and switching means 12 and the delay of an operation can be avoided.

    • PURPOSE:To make test time possible at arbitrary time by providing a conducting angle variable switch between a rectifier circuit and a smoothing capacitor to gradually reduce the voltage applied to load from the side of the rectification circuit so as to gradually reduce a conducting angle of rectifier circuit output. CONSTITUTION:At first, with the use of a change-over control means 10 a change-over switch 2 is connected to the side of a battery. At the time, when the voltage input into a smoothing capacitor 3 from a rectifier circuit 1 is not stopped immediately and with the use of a conducting angle control means 11 of a control part 9 the conducting angle of a conducting angle variable switch circuit 8 successively changed from the maximum conducting angle to the minimum angle gradually, the voltage applied to the capacitor 3 is reduced gradually. In the case where the battery fails and its output lowers or the output thereof is zero, its voltage is detected by the use of a voltage detection circuit 7 since the terminal voltage of the capacitor 3 lowers gradually in a process in which the conducting angle becomes little.
