    • PURPOSE:To facilitate automatically separation of a piece of cut material from the under lying adjacent one by mechanical means, by keeping the surface of material cut and piled in a stack at the same level, allowing a pickup metal to sink in opened position and rise in closed position, applying ransverse vibration thereto, by picking up the material one piece after another, and by holding them separatedly. CONSTITUTION:The level of the material 12 cut and piled in stack is adjusted by a sensor 15, and at the same time as commencement of preparation of the uppermost lying piece for sewing, a pickup metal 21 with specific degree of opening sinks to the leftwise end of the material 12, whereafter the opening is narrowed with a rise of the piston shaft 28 to pinch the currently uppermost lying piece and rise together. Because the material is in front and behind its central part pressed by a material ends pressing weight 13, the middle part of the material is pulled up so as to assume an inverted groove form and, at the same time, the pickup metal 21 rises being vibrated by a cylinder 45 in the transverse direction, so that sure defoliation is obtained easily even when fibers are entangled firmly. When thereafter sewing of the foregoing piece is completed and a finger tip etc. is approached in order to move the material to the sewing position, a command is given to a sensor 52 to make sensing, and the pickup metal 21 is opened to release the material for transfer to the sewing position.
