    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an injector 1 capable of exhibiting desired output characteristics, without allowing individual differences to be generated by the assembly of a plurality of constituent parts. SOLUTION: When assembling the injector 1, each of the constituent parts giving influence to the output characteristics is assigned beforehand ID classification with reference to characteristics difference of respective constituent parts. In the process of assembling these constituent parts giving influence to the output characteristics, if a constituent part given an ID classification is selected, constituent part selection is executed in accordance with an instruction of a constituent part designating means which designates other constituent parts having an ID classification corresponding to the ID classification assigned to the selected constituent part, and the injector 1 is assembled by using the plurality of selected constituent parts. Thus, the output characteristics of the injector 1 are made to be the desired output characteristics, with individual differences among the injectors 1 made extremely small, and with a desired amount, a desired starting time, and a desired finishing time of injection achieved for a wide range of operation.     • PURPOSE:To enable to detect the fuel injection timing with high sensitivity and excellent temperature characteristics, by leading an optical fiber having a high heat resistance into a fuel injection valve, and detecting the injection timing from the change in the quantity of light. CONSTITUTION:When the fuel pressure becomes higher than the pressing force of a valve spring 1 by a fuel injection pump, a valve element 2 and a pressure pin 11 are moved upward and the gap between the top 6 of an optical fiber and the top of a pressure pin is changed, so that the quantity of reflected light received by a light receiving element 5, i.e., the optical electromotive force of the element 5 is changed. By comparing the level of the optical electromotive force by a comparator in a detector section 18, the fuel injection starting period can be detected with high sensitivity from the change in the output of said comparator.
