The system can include a substrate and at least one channel provided on the substrate having an inlet and an outlet. The system can further include a fluid moving along the channel in a laminar flow having suspended particles and a pumping element driving the laminar flow of the fluid. The fluid, the channel, and the pumping element can be configured to cause inertial forces to act on the particles and to focus the particles into one or more stream lines.

The absorbance measurement tank 7 has: a passage area 8 which has a second depth D2 in a direction perpendicular to a flow passage formation surface A, and through which a liquid EL to be inspected passes; a measurement area 10 which has a first depth D1 shallower than the second depth in the perpendicular direction, and through which measurement light for measuring the absorbance of the liquid EL to be inspected passes; and a bottom surface 9B which coupled both the areas 8, 10 to each other so that the liquid EL to be inspected flows from the passage area 8 into the measurement area 10. The flow passage formation surface 2A is parallel with the direction of gravitational force GF, the bottom surface 9B of the passage area 8 is located downstream from the bottom surface 10A of the measurement area 10 in a rotational direction 93, and an external wall surface 2B which is fitted to a holder 47R of an inspection device 30 is provided to be mounted on the holder 47R.

摘要： The invention provides a buffy float for use in a tube and float system for use in separation and axial expansion of a buffy coat. The system includes a transparent, or semi-transparent, flexible sample tube (130) and a rigid separator float (110) having a specific gravity intermediate that of red blood cells and plasma. The sample tube has an elongated sidewall (136) having a first cross-sectional inner diameter. The float consists of a main body portion and one or more support members protruding from the main body portion to engage and support the sidewall of the sample tube. The main body portion and the support members of the float have a cross-sectional diameter less than that of the first cross-sectional inner diameter of the tube (138) when the sample tube is expanded, such as by centrifugation. The main body portion of the float together with an axially aligned portion of the sidewall define an annular volume therebetween. The support members protruding from the main body portion of the float traverse said annular volume to produce one or more analysis areas. During centrifugation, the centrifugal force enlarges the diameter of the tube to permit density-based axial movement of the float in the tube. Thereafter, the centrifugal force is reduced to cause the tube sidewall to return to its first diameter, thereby capturing the float and trapping the buffy coat constituents in the analysis area.
