    • PURPOSE: To obtain magnesian powder for melt-spraying easy to sinter and melt in a flame by calcining magnesite at a specified temp.
      CONSTITUTION: Magnesite is calcined at 700W1,650°C. When the calcining temp. is below 700°C, thermal decomposition represented by MgCO
      3 →MgO+CO
      2 is caused during melt-spraying to drop the temp. of a flame, or the decomposed gas is tightly sealed in a melt-sprayed layer to induce a foaming phenomenon, thereby resulting in a lower melt-spraying yield and deteriorated density, strengh and corrosion resistance of the sprayed layer. When magnesite is calcined at >1,650°C, periclase crystals are grown to 20W100μm to reduce the specific surface area and the open pores, so the propagation of heat is made difficult to prevent the instantaneous melting of the powder in a flame, thereby resulting in a lower spraying yield and deteriorated density and corrosion resistance of the sprayed layer. In addition, the cost of fuel is increased because of high temp. calcination. Magnesia thus obtd. is pulverized to about 30W100μmwt. average diameter in consideration of feedability during spraying.

    • PURPOSE: To improve adhesivity of a lining layer by flame spraying and to bond the layer to a wall of a coke oven, by removing attached carbon, etc. from the wall surface of the coke oven through exidizing flame of a flame gun, followed by flame spraying of refractory powder.
      CONSTITUTION: After coke is taken out from a coke oven by a coke pushing machime, carbon and tar deposited on a repairable part of a wall of the coke oven is removed by oxidizing combustion of a flame gun. The wall is coated with fefractory powder by flame spraying to form a lining layer, which has improved adsecitity. When the refractory powder is applied by flame spraying to the wall of the coke oven while it and hot bed are maintained at a temperature of not less than 400°C by oxidizing flame in removing carbon, the linining layer has improved adhesivity.
