    • PURPOSE:To prevent the development of surface defect caused by squeezing work by specifying shapes of anvils at the time of applying the squeezing work with one pair of the anvils having flat working surface in the final solidified zone of a cast slab strand in continuous casting. CONSTITUTION:At near the finishing solidified zone of internal molten steel in the cast slab strand drawn from a mold for continuous casting, the squeezing work is repeated with at least one pair of reciprocating type anvils sandwiching pass-line of the cast slab strand in the vertical direction. By hits method, center segregation can be effectively improved. In this case, the anvil is used which has squeezing reduction part composed of draft inclined surface 1 toward the introducing side of the cast slab strand and the flat working surface 2 connecting with the above surface, and the side faces 3 sandwiching the squeezing reduction part to the right and left sides, respectively, and satisfies the inequality I to the widths L1, L2 of the faces 1, 2 and conforms to condition of the inequality II. In the inequalities, h1: height from the surface 2 to the upper end of the surface 3, S: squeezing work rate, R: radius in round part at intersection of the squeezing reduction part and the face 3, delta: squeezing reduction rate (mm unit of the above items), theta: angle (degree with which the squeezing reduction part crosses with the surface 3.

    • PURPOSE:To decrease the generation of inverse V segregation and macro segregation, etc. by providing a riser part in the upper part at a convergent taper end of a hermetic casting mold of which the base is the max. wall surface of a flat casting mold having a taper, disposing a heat insulating material to the periphery thereof and protecting the surface of the molten steel to be poured into the mold with the heat insulating material. CONSTITUTION:The flat casting mold 1 is placed on a mold stool 4 with the max. wall surface of said mold as a bas and the apertures at both ends are held in place between side face molds 2 to form the hermetic casting mold. The riser part 3 is provided atop the end on the open side of the taper in a manner as to notch the mold 1 and the heat insulating material 7 is provided to the periphery thereof. The molten steel 6 is poured from the riser part 3 into the mold constituted in the above-mentioned manner and the surface of the molten steel is protected by a heat retaining material 8. Then the solidification on the riser part side is last as compared with the other sections and the cooling mainly consisting of the heat extraction from the base of the max. wall surface of the mold 1 is made possible. The solidification boundary approximately horizontally rises.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a defectless slab without forming a negative segregation zone by providing an electromagnetic stirrer or ultrasonic wave impressing device before the point where the solidification of a billet is completed and disposing a forging device of a reciprocating type near the point where the solidification is completed. CONSTITUTION:A molten metal supported by supporting rolls 3 descends from a casting mold 11 and is electromagnetically stirred by an electromagnetic stirrer 9 before the billet completes solidification. The billet is forged by a forging device 7 of a reciprocating type near the point where the solidification is completed. The dendrite cut by the flow of the molten steel by the stirrer 9 settles and an equi-axed crystal region is formed near the crater end. The billet is subjected to continuous forging of the plane by the device 7 in the state of having the equi-axed crystal zone in the central part, by which central segregation is considerably improved. The defectless continuous casting slab is obtd. without forming the negative segregation zone by the above-mentioned method.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the internal defect caused by enclosure of mold powder by setting the spouting quantity of molten steel so as to become the equal flowing speed at near both short side walls in a mold and pouring the molten steel into the mold from each spouting hole. SOLUTION: The immersion nozzle having the spouting holes 5 faced to both short side walls 6 in the mold, is set so as to shift this center axis in the direction along the side walls 5 from the center of the mold, and the molten steel is poured into the mold from each spouting hole 5. At this time, the spouting quantity from the immersion nozzle is decided so that the flowing speeds of the molten steel at near the short side walls 6 equal, and the molten steel is poured into the mold. In this way, periodical variation of the flow velocity on the surface of the molten steel can be restrained. As a means for adjusting the spouting quantity, e.g. the areas of the faced spouting holes 5 may be to mutually change in the immersion nozzle. That is, many immersion nozzles having different cross sectional areas of the faced spouting holes 5, are prepared and the flow velocity sensors are arranged at near both short side walls 6 in the mold, and the testing operations are executed to find the suitable immersion nozzle.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the cost of equipment inexpensive by simplifying its structure, insofar as possible. SOLUTION: This turning device is equipped with a plurality of retracting rollers 3a to 3e retracting a billet 2 successively fed from four conveyor lines A to D to the downstream part after receiving it one after another, and it is also equipped with a plurality of delivery rollers 4a to 4i whose axial directions turned to the direction orthogonal with the conveying direction after being turned, at the further downstream part of rollers 3e arranged at the most downstream part. These delivery rollers 4a to 4i are in close vicinity to the rollers 3e at the most downstream part, and a side guide 7 consisting of a thin platelike member extending along a conveyor line E is installed in the upper of an end on the reverse side to the roller 3e in making the cross direction turn to the vertical direction at a specified interval from the retracting roller 3e. Then, four rollers 9a to 9e, getting closer to a surface facing to the side of the roller 3e of the side guide 7, turning the axial direction to the vertical direction and capable shifting in the conveying direction after being turned are installed at the specified interval along the conveying direction after being turned.
