摘要： PURPOSE: To accelerate the increase in the effective geometrical surface area of a catalyst and the movement of a reactant to a reaction field by allowing inorg. matter having a specific particle size and a catalyst component to coxesist on the surfaces of the cells of a honeycomb substrate when a honeycomb catalyst is prepared. CONSTITUTION: A honeycomb catalyst especially suitably used as an exhaust gas purifying catalyst of a car is prepared by allowing inorg. matter with a particle size of 30-300μm and a catalyst component to coexist on the surfaces of the cells of a honeycomb substrate. As the inorg. matter, metal oxide such as Al2 O3 , TiO2 , SiO2 or ZrO2 is used. The inorg. matter 3 and catalyst particles 4 are pref. allowed to coexist on the surfaces of the cells of the honeycomb substrate 1 by coating the honeycomb substrate 1 with the inorg. matter 3 at first and impregnating the coated substrate with a catalytically active component-containing soln. and subjecting the impregnated substrate to non- uniform catalyst preparing operation such as drying and baking to support an active catalyst component on the surface of the inorg. matter 3 and the internal surfaces of cells of the honeycomb substrate 1.

摘要： PURPOSE:To check the orrurrence of noise and vibration due to exhaust gas by forming a bypass passage in use of part of a case in common with plural catalysts, and installing a valve selecting passages in a branching position between the catalyst at the front stage in this common case and the bypassing passage. CONSTITUTION:A lean nitrogen oxide (NOx) catalyst 9 from the upstream and a three way catalyst 10 to the downstream both are installed in an exhaust emission control device 12, and a passage 13 bypassing the upstream catalyst and directly flowing into the down stream catalyst is formed in an inner part of the device by a partitioning member 6 set apart from the lean NOx catalyst 9. The flowing of exhaust gas between the upstream side catalyst 9 and the bypassing passage 13 is selectively changed over by a selector valve 1 through instructions out of a control part. This selector valve 1 is an L-shaped movable member composed of a heat resistant metal or the like, and it is installed in a position branching off the device upstream passage. This movable member is a valve in such a construction as capable of selecting two passages by means of an integral shape which rotates a shaft 2 as far as 90 degrees or turn over it, making one side of the movable member reach to a member 5, thereby closing a passage to the lean NOx catalyst 9 and opening the passage 13 leading to the three way catalyst 10 at the other side instead.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly efficiently purify NOx in a lean burn exhaust gas without providing large effect to fuel consumption, by arranging a NOx adsorption catalyst in an exhaust gas flow conduit to adsorb and trap NOx in oxidation atmosphere of lean exhaust gas, and by generating reduction atmosphere to regenerate the adsorption catalyst.
