    • PURPOSE:To simplify the manufacturing process and to attain mass production of floating type magnetic heads by burying a magnetic head core into a groove formed at the side face of a floating/sliding surface of a floating member and therefore reducing the number of junction processes of glass, etc., down to just one. CONSTITUTION:A rectangular nonmagnetic block 50 serving as a floating member 31 contains a groove 52 where magnetic head cores 33 and 33' are buried. Then a magnetic material to be used to cores 33 and 33' is stacked in the groove 52 by a thin film production process and the undesired part of the magnetic material is removed. This magnetic film 53 is divided into two core half blocks 54 and 55 approximately at the center part and in the film thickness direction. Then a coil winding groove 57 is formed at least at one of two counter faces of a magnetic gap between blocks 54 and 55 and a desired nonmagnetic film is formed at the groove 57. Both blocks 54 and 55 are integrated in a single body connecting both butting faces with pressure and heating. Then this integrated body is cut into blocks. A groove 63 is formed to the counter surface of said block against a recording medium with a prescribed floating surface 62 left. Then a cut groove 64 is formed to show a coil winding window and the surface 62 is processed. Thus a floating type magnetic head is obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To improve recording and reproducing efficiency and to decrease noise by forming an auxiliary magnetic pole of a magnetic metallic material, decreasing the volume to be occupied by the auxiliary magnetic pole and using nonmagnetic protective substrates to form a magnetic core substrate part. CONSTITUTION:Materials such as zirconia, sapphire, and alumina tartanic acid carbide having a good characteristic to resist sliding with a recording medium are used for the nonmagnetic protective substrates 31, 31'. A groove is formed to the nonmagnetic protective substrate 31 to be formed with a main magnetic pole and a soft magnetic material is packed therein. The main magnetic pole 33 having a high saturation magnetic flux density is formed on the soft magnetic material 32 to constitute a main magnetic pole core. The auxiliary magnetic pole 30' forms a groove 35 for coil winding on another nonmagnetic protective substrate 31, and forms the soft magnetic film 34 serving as the auxiliary magnetic pole on the circumferential wall of the groove. The soft magnetic film 34 is formed by sputtering or vapor deposition, etc., of a 'Permalloy(R)', 'Sendust(R)' or amorphous magnetic alloy. The main magnetic pole 30 and the auxiliary magnetic pole 30' are butted to each other and are joined and united by a resin or glass by which a magnetic head core is formed.
