    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermal recording material having high sensibility, excellent oil resistance and plasticizer resistance, and high whiteness by adding at least one kind of sulfonyl hydrazone compound to be expressed by a specified formula as an electron acceptor compound to be contained in a thermal coloring layer. SOLUTION: A thermal recording layer is formed of a thermal recording material with which colored images obtained by heating are not decolored and preservation stability of recorded images is excellent, and contains an electron donor dye precursor and an electron acceptor compound. For the electron acceptor compound, at least one kind of sulfonyl hydrazone compound to be expressed by formulas I-III is added. In the formula, R1 -R3 represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, and aralkyl group, R4 represents an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group. (m) is 0 or 1, (n) is an integer of 0 or 1-10, and when m=1, n=0 does not exist. Also, a carboxylic acid may form a metal salt.
