    • PURPOSE:To prevent fine velocity variation in a magnetic tape by controlling a magnetic head in a direction where the head projects from a cylinder when the magnetic head starts and finishes abutting on the magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:When the magnetic head 20 starts abutting on the magnetic tape 1, the projecting quantity of the head 20 is smaller than the projecting quantity in recording/reproducing at an abutting starting position 60. A piezoelectric element 22 is driven by a signal from a head projection control circuit 26 from the point where the head passes through the position 60, and the head 20 is driven to a prescribed projecting position, where the recording/reproducing are performed. And when the recording/reproducing are finished, the element 22 is driven by the signal from a control circuit 26 while the head 20 moves from the recording/reproducing finishing position to the abutting finishing position 61, and the head 20 is let down at the position lower than the projecting position in recording/reproducing. Thus, at the time of staring abutting, the head 20 projects by degrees so as to smoothly abut on the tape 1, and at the time of abutting, the projecting quantity is reduced by degrees so that the head 20 may smoothly finish abutting on the tape 1.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the magnetization of the magnetic head and the degradation in output by boring through-holes in a metallic sheet constituting a bimorph element. CONSTITUTION:The plural through-holes 6 are bored in the conductive metallic sheet 3 held between piezoelectric plates 1 and 2. For example, the metallic sheet 3 magnetized in a direction (e) magnetizes the magnetic head of the bimorph element 4 but the diamagnetic fields increase in such a manner that + and - negate each other in the direction (e) in the structure in which the plural through-holes 6 are bored in the metallic sheet 3. The magnetization hardly arises in the direction (e) and only the magnetization in the direction (d) arises in such structure. Since the conductive metallic sheet 3 is a magnetic material, the sheet is relatively easily magnetized by the influence of an external magnetic field, etc., but the through-holes 6 are provided in the metallic sheet 3 constituting the bimorph element 4 and, therefore, the sheet is hardly magnet ized by the diamagnetic field effect. The possibility of the magnetic charge to exert adverse influence on the magnetic head is eliminated in this way and the degradation in the output is prevented.
