    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous electrode base material which is equipped with full gas permeability and resistance in the thickness and penetrating directions, and demonstrates high moisture management function of less fluctuations in battery performance, even with fluctuations in the humidification conditions, and to provide its manufacturing method, a membrane-electrode assembly, and a solid polymer fuel cell.
      SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the porous electrode base material is for sequentially carrying out processes, wherein: carbon short fibers and binder short fibers are dispersed in a two-dimensional plane; a carbon short fiber paper is fabricated; and a precursor sheet is fabricated, by impregnating a dimethyl acetamide solution in which polyacrylonitrile and polyvinyl pyrrolidone are dissolved into the carbon short fiber paper. Polyacrylonitrile and polyvinyl pyrrolidone in the precursor sheet are phase-separated from each other, and phase-separated polyacrylonitrile in the precursor sheet is made to coagulate. The precursor sheet containing polyacrylonitrile and polyvinyl pyrrolidone from which dimethyl acetamide is removed is obtained, and through the carbonization treatment of the precursor sheet obtained, the porous electrode base material is obtained.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer paper obtained by manufacturing a nonwoven fabric by using a single fiber or a sheath-core conjugate fiber having a component of a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and then making pulp fibers with the nonwoven fabric by using a Fourdrinier paper machine, and a method for producing the same.
      SOLUTION: This multilayer paper is obtained by preparing the nonwoven fabric by using the single-structured fiber having the PVA component having a thermally fusing temperature of 90-120°C, or the sheath-core conjugate fiber consisting of a resin having a thermally fusing temperature of >120°C at the core part, and the PVA fiber having a thermally fusing temperature of 90-120°C at the sheath part, interposing the nonwoven fabric between an upper layer paper material and lower layer paper material to form the multilayer paper having the upper paper material layer, nonwoven fabric layer and lower paper material layer and heating for drying the multilayer paper in a drying process of the papermaking machine. The method for producing the same is also provided.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter medium for a filter which facilitates a disposal, keeps a filter efficiency high, and a filtering life long, a filter for a fluid filtration provided with the filter medium for the filter, and an oil filter for an engine.
      SOLUTION: The filter medium for the filter contains a cellulose fiber, a modified cross-section fiber (A) wherein a fiber diameter is 50-70 μm, and a cross-sectional shape is a +shaped PET fiber, a fine fiber (B) which is a vinylon fiber having a fiber diameter of 0.1-5 μm, and a hydrophilic fiber (C) which has a fiber diameter of 15-25 μm and is a hydrophilic polypropylene fiber made from a polypropylene fiber hydrophilically treated by a detergent. When the whole fiber in the filter medium for the filter is 100 mass%, 10-30 mass% the modified cross-section fiber (A), 3-7 mass% the fine fiber (B), and 5-20 mass% the hydrophilic fiber (C) are contained.
