    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mechanically and chemically stabilize a high resistance layer by providing a high resistance film on the front surface of a base material of a spacer, has of at least either one of an electron source or a plate the thermal expansion coefficient in a specified range, and the spacer base plate has a ceramic material having the thermal expansion coefficient in a specified range. SOLUTION: Spacers 1020 are provided as atmospheric pressure resistant structural bodies for the purpose preventing an airtight container from being broken caused by atmospheric pressure or unexpected impact, and a high resistance film as a first layer for preventing charge is provided on the front surface of an insulating member (a spacer base plate). At least either an electron source base plate 1011 or a face plate base plate 1017 has a thermal expansion coefficient in the range of 80×10-7/ deg.C to 90×10-7/ deg.C, and the spacer 1020 uses a ceramic material having a thermal expansion coefficient in the range of 75×10-7/ deg.C to 95×10-7/ deg.C. Mixed sintered materials obtained by adding zirconia to alumina is used for the ceramic having the thermal expansion coefficient.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the effect by a member to emission electrons in a case where the member such as a spacer is provided, by coating the front surface of a base material of the spacer with a high resistance film as a first layer and coating the first layer with a second layer having a secondary electron emission coefficient lower than that of the first layer except a partial region. SOLUTION: Spacers 1020 are provided for preventing an airtight container from being broken caused by atmospheric pressure or unexpected impact, and each spacer 1020 is provided with a high resistance film as a first layer for preventing charge on the front surface of an insulating member. A second layer 1021 having a lower secondary electron emission coefficient is formed on a specified region of the high resistance film. The first layer neutralizes and removes electric charge charged on the front surface of the spacer 1020 to prevent the spacer 1020 from being largely charged. The second layer 1020 is made of a material having lower secondary electron emission coefficient to prevent the front surface of the spacer from being positive-charged due to electron incidence to the front surface of the spacer, such as re-incidence of directly incident electrons, reflected electrons or secondary electrons.
