摘要： PURPOSE:To index the positions of a light source and an optical axis accurately by setting the size of cross sections of lattice holes larger than that of the light source but less than an allowable error range of the position of the optical axis and the length thereof so that the angle making a diagonal line on a vertical section is almost the same as a specified adjustable angle of the optical axis. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of longitudinal length-wise lattice holes 2 are arranged in matrix ahead of a head lamp B. Transmission light is made to irradiate an irradiation zone 1 corresponding to the lattice hole 2 the same in the level as a light source B1 and the area of irradiation decreases as the light separates. On the other hand, the luminance thereof becomes largest in an irradiation zone 2 corresponding to the hole 2 coinciding with an optical axis B2 and lowers as the light separates. A image taken of an irradiation pattern on a screen of a measuring device is processed with a computer to determine the position of the irradiation zone 1 at which the area of irradiation is at its maximum and the position of the irradiation zone 2 at which the luminance is at its maximum. This enables the indexing of the position of the light source B1 from the irradiation zone 1 and the position of optical axis B2 from the irradiation zone 2.

摘要： PURPOSE: To obtain a headlamp adjuster mechanism having braking means providing prevailing torque by connecting gear means to a headlamp-positioning adjusting member which is connected to a headlamp and also connecting the gear means to an elastomeric member providing prevailing torque for preventing movement of the gear means. CONSTITUTION: An gear member 30 is connected to an adjusting member 16 for headlamp positioning which can move in response to rotation of the gear member 30 and is operatively connected to a headlamp. The gear member 30 is engaged with an elastomeric member 76 providing prevailing torque for preventing inadvertent movement of the gear member 30. A desired degree of prevailing torque can be attained by reducing braking force with a braking effect of the elastomeric member 76 providing prevailing torque using its elastomeric property. The fluctuation of torque is reduced by reducing the controlling force to attain the desired degree of prevailing torque. The coefficient of static friction and the coefficient of dynamic friction of the braking means can be set to be approximately equal to each other.
