    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic atomizing apparatus being capable of promoting electrostatic atomization and carrying mist generated by electrostatic atomization efficiently out of the apparatus through ion wind generated by discharge and allowing easy compacting and an air cleaner using the apparatus. SOLUTION: An atomization section 8 of the apparatus generating atomized mist consists of carrying sections 4A carrying water from a water reservoir 6, an application electrode 2 supporting the carrying sections 4A and applying a high voltage to water in the carrying sections 4A and counter electrodes 3 arranged along the edge of the carrying portion 4A with an interval in an opposed way. The counter electrodes 3 are supported by the upper part of the cage section 10, and the electrode 2 supporting the carrying sections 4A is supported by the inside of the lower part of the cage section 10.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact dust collector capable of collecting microparticles as well with a low pressure drop of air being treated. SOLUTION: The dust collector or the air cleaner (10) is comprised of a casing (20), a pre-filter unit (30), an aggregation unit (70) and a collection unit (50) each disposed in the casing (20). Treated air removed of large size dust or the like by a pre-filter (31) flows into the aggregation unit (70). In the aggregation unit (70), microparticles floating in the above treated air are collected by a dust collection electrode and a plurality of the floating microparticles are caused to aggregate to form aggregated particles on the dust collection electrode. The aggregated particles grown to have a certain particle size come off from the dust collection electrode and are scattered into the treated air. The aggregated particles in the treated air are collected by a dust collection filter (51) in a collection unit (50) disposed downstream of the aggregation unit (70).     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic precipitation unit having a thin structure capable of simultaneously performing a dust collecting function and deodorizing function.
      SOLUTION: The electrostatic precipitation unit is made capable of simultaneously performing two functions namely a dust collecting function and deodorizing function by installing therein a front panel 1 molded into a lattice shape, a plurality of needle electrodes 2 having discharge capability upon application thereon of a high voltage, a parallel electrode unit 3 disposed parallel with the needle electrodes 2, and a dust collecting filter unit 7 constituted of dust collecting filters 5 fixed by a housing frame 6 which is disposed in the U-shaped cross section of the parallel electrode unit 3 that constitutes an air flow path at the upstream side, and further by installing a deodorant filter unit 20 constituted of deodorant filters 12 and 13 housed in a filter frame 10 and fixed by a filter holding frame 17 onto the front panel 1.
