    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and method, and a program, for printing to output image data subjected to pseudo halftone processing with proper density characteristics.
      SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus generates a pseudo halftone image from a multivalue image using a dither threshold array, and generates a difference image between each of one or more pseudo halftone images each having density characteristics different from those of the generated pseudo halftone image and the generated pseudo halftone image. There are stored the generated pseudo halftone image and the generated one or more difference image. Density characteristics for printing a pseudo halftone image from the multivalue image are determined. When it is determined that printing is performed with density characteristics different from those of the stored pseudo halftone image, by combining the stored difference image in response to the determined density characteristics and the stored pseudo halftone image, a pseudo halftone image is generated and output in order to print the combined and generated pseudo halftone image.
