    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device where a focus error signal can be detected accurately in the case of receiving reflected light of different wavelengths from a plurality of kinds of recording mediums, and to provide an information recording and reproducing device thereof. SOLUTION: The optical pickup device splits reflected light obtained by reflecting the light of the different wavelengths emitted from a plurality of light sources by the recording mediums into a prescribed number by a diffraction element, and focuses the reflected light at a position at a prescribed distance in a prescribed direction.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical head device and an optical disk drive which are hardly affected by crosstalk between recording layers and also are less in the burden of a signal reproduction system when the information is reproduced from or recorded to the optical disk having two or more recording layers. SOLUTION: This optical head device 11 includes a diffractive optical element 26 for image-forming components of a reflected laser beam around the center of the same which is reflected by the optical disk keeping the state deflected (diffracted) to the predetermined direction, onto a light recording face of a photodetector 28 for receiving the reflected laser beam which is reflected by the 1st and 2nd recording layers of the optical disk, and outputting corresponding signals. By the diffractive optical element 26, a center part of the reflected laser beam is diffracted at a predetermined rate and a peripheral edge part of the diffractive optical element is transmitted as it is as a non-diffracted light. An exact tracking error signal can be obtained since the non-diffracted light transmitted through the peripheral edge part of the diffractive optical element is not affected by an offset (lens shift) even when an objective lens 25 is shifted (lens shift) to the direction orthogonal with a track.
