SOLUTION: The surface-treated copper foil is characterized in that an organic rust preventive coating film is formed on at least one surface of the copper foil, and the reciprocal (1/C) of the electric double layer capacity of the one surface is 0.3-0.8 cm 2 /μF. 摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a variable astigmatic focal beam spot using an anamorphic beam irradiation system. SOLUTION: The variable astigmatic focal beam spot can be used for cutting applications, for example, to scribe semiconductor wafers such as light emitting diode (LED) wafers. The exemplary anamorphic beam irradiation system comprises a series of optical components, which deliberately introduce astigmatism to produce focal points separated into two principal meridians, i.e. vertical and horizontal. The astigmatic focal points result in an asymmetric, yet sharply focused beam spot that consists of sharpened leading and trailing edges. Adjusting the astigmatic focal points changes the aspect ratio of the compressed focal beam spot, allowing adjustment of energy density at the target without affecting laser output power. 摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-powered laser beam welding method capable of joining a comparatively thick metallic member. SOLUTION: In the welding method and an assembly for performing the method, articles to be welded are placed together so that faying surfaces thereof face each other, a joint region is defined by the faying surfaces and juxtaposed surfaces of the articles, a shim is disposed between and in contact with the faying surfaces, and an edge portion of the shim protrudes from the juxtaposed surfaces. The articles are welded together by projecting onto the joint region a high-powered laser beam. The high-powered laser beam is focused on the juxtaposed surfaces of the articles and intentionally unfocused on the edge portion of the shim, so that portions of the laser beam are diffracted by the edge portion onto the juxtaposed surfaces. The laser beam and its diffracted portions melt the shim and the faying and juxtaposed surfaces of the articles.
