    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively use a catalyst by treating an aromatic organic chlorine compound contained in waste gas with the catalyst in the range of waste gas linear velocity found by a specific equation obtained from the quantity of waste gas to be treated and the quantity of the catalyst to be used in the treatment of the waste gas for decomposing and removing the chlorine compound. SOLUTION: The aromatic organic chlorine compound denotes polychlorodibenzodioxin, polychlorodibenzofuran or the like. As catalyst for decomposing the aromatic organic chlorine compound, a catalyst consisting of particularly Ti oxide and V, W is preferable. At the time of decomposing and removing the aromatic organic chlorine compound contained in the waste gas with the catalyst, the treatment is carried out at the optimum waste gas linear velocity obtained from the flow rate of waste gas to be treated and the quantity of the catalyst to be used by using the equation (in the equation, S=a/b, (a) represents a flow rate (Nm3/hr) of the waste gas to be used and (b) represents a quantity of the catalyst to be used). The ratio of the flow rate of the waste gas to be treated to the quantity of the catalyst to be used is preferably about 100-10,000, further preferably 500-6,000.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a hazardous substance efficiently by a method wherein a fabric base for removing the hazardous substance in an exhaust gas by adsorption is made an intermediate layer, a fabric base for removal of dust in the exhaust gas is laminated on its one side, and a fabric base having a catalytic constituent for decomposing the hazardous substance in the exhaust gas is laminated on the other side. SOLUTION: A fabric base 1 for removal of dust containing metal oxides of Ti, Ni, or the like, and a fabric base 2 for removal of hazardous substances of a chlorine based organic compound wherein active carbon fibers of acrylonitrile series, cellulose series, or the like, are fibrillated to be formed in a sheet shape, heavy metals of mercury, cadmium, lead, or the like, sulfur oxide, or the like, are prepared. A fabric base 3 wherein catalytic constituents of Ti, Si, or the like, metals of V, W, or the like or their oxides are supported on a fibrous surface, and hazardous substances of chlorine based organic compound, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxide are removed by decomposition, the fabric base 2 for removal of the hazardous substance, and the fabric base 1 for removal of dust are laminated in order by an inorganic binder 4. Thereby, the dust and hazardous substance in the exhaust gas can be effectively removed or decomposed.
