    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an alloy matrix composite material having a though hole in which infiltration of metal into a preform can be satisfactorily performed and further, after the infiltration treatment, a member inserted into the through hole of the preform can be easily extracted.
      SOLUTION: This method is a method for manufacturing a metal matrix composite material by applying a non-pressure infiltration process to a porous body (preform) composed of ceramic powder or fiber. The metal matrix composite material having the through hole can be manufactured by inserting an SUS rod or SUS tube around which carbon sheet is wound into the through hole of the preform, infiltrating, in this state, an aluminum alloy into the preform under no pressure and then extracting the SUS rod or SUS tube.
