    • PURPOSE:To improve adhesion between a steel strip and a zinc vapor-deposited plating layer with an aluminum vapor-deposited plating layer interposed by providing a means to plate the steel strip preheated with vapor deposition of aluminum and then with vapor deposition of zinc. CONSTITUTION:The steel strip 1 is pretreated by degreasing, pickling, washing with water and drying with a degreasing and pickling device 2 while traveling, and then the steel strip 1 is introduced to the vacuum vapor deposition apparatus 3. The steel strip 1 is passed through vacuum chambers 3a-3d, heated to about 200 deg.C by heating means 12, plated with Al vapor deposition in the vacuum chamber 3e. Then the strip is plated with zinc in a vacuum chamber 3f. The steel strip 1 provided with vapor deposition plating is passed through vacuum chambers 3g-3i and wound up by a winding device 5 in air. The thickness of the Al vapor-deposited film is controlled to specified film thickness by controlling the temp. of molten Al 8 based on the traveling speed of the steel strip 1 and determined from the relation between the temp. of molten Al in a crucible 9 for Al and the deposition rate of Al on the steel strip 1. The thickness of the zinc vapor-deposited film is also controlled by controlling the temp. of molten zinc 10 in a crucible 11 for zinc.
