摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain spherical fibrous massive active carbon having a high bulk density at a low cost with excellent mass productivity by melt spinning a spinning pitch prepared from tar pitch as a raw material, infusibilizing the melt spun fiber, then disintegrating the-infusibilized fiber, subsequently aggregating and sphering mutual fibers and subjecting the resultant fibers to activating treatment. CONSTITUTION:Tar pitch is used as a raw material to prepare a spinning pitch, which is then melt spun to provide pitch fiber. The resultant pitch fiber is infusibilized in an oxidizing atmosphere and the obtained infusibilized fiber is subjected to disintegration treatment, then mutually aggregated, sphered and subjected to activation treatment to afford spherical fibrous massive active carbon. The disintegration treatment can be also carried out prior to the infusibilization. Thereby, since the disintegration treatment is performed before the sphering or infusibilizing, treatment of infusibilizing, activating, etc., can continuously and industrially be carried out in a large amount. The objective active carbon fiber product of a high bulk density can simultaneously be obtained.

Consequently, the activated carbon has the advantages of both the granular activated carbon and fibrous activated carbon, the adsorptivity is enhanced, the adsorbing and desorbing rates are increased, its handleability and shape holding property are excellent, and the resistance to a fluid flow is extremely low.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve the mechanical properties and surface qualities and also raise the uniformity by adding binder to a mat-shaped substance made of mixed thermoplastic resin fibers and carbon fibers and then compressing them into a sheet-shaped substance and laminating a thermoplastic resin sheet thereon and heating and pressing them thereafter. CONSTITUTION:First, a blended mat of thermoplastic resin fibers and carbon fibers to be a matrix is made, whereby the handling property of the mat is improved and, since the thermoplastic resin is dispersed previously uniformly in the inner part of a fiber reinforced layer, the sufficient and uniform infiltration of the resin into the fiber reinforced mat can be obtained. Next, after giving a binder in the blended mat, it is made into a sheet-shaped substance with high density through compression. As binders, it is preferred to employ resin such as epoxy resin, unsaturate polyester resin and PVA resin, and it is preferable that the adhesive rate is in the range of 0.1 - 20wt%. In the next place, the blended sheet substance obtained herein is superimposed and laminated with the thermoplastic sheet substance and then they are heated and pressed at the temperature of softening and melting temperature or higher of the thermoplastic resin.

CONSTITUTION:A bundling oiling agent is initially fed from a tank 12 into two-fluid nozzle 7 and atomized into fine droplets. The resultant oiling agent is then made to collide with the surface of a forcibly rotated roller 3, homogeneously and closely dispersed and adhered thereto. A fiber bundle spun through a spinning nozzle 1 is subsequently brought into contact with the above- mentioned surface of the roller 3 to continuously apply 0.2-10% bundling oiling agent to the spun fiber bundle. Furthermore, the afore-mentioned surface of the roller is preferably subjected to plating treatment with chromium or TiN, etc., to enhance smoothness or a material, such as graphite, BN or Si3N4, is preferably processed and used as the roller itself.

Therefore, the pitch fiber bundle 3 can be applied onto the vacant bobbin 5 smoothly without being cut. Further, since a traverse guide 4 moves in reciprocation in a certain range in operation, the taking-up position directly under the traverse guide 4 is hardly changed even in the shift of the bobbin, and the fiber bundle 3 can be applied onto the vacant bobbin b.
