    • PURPOSE:To obtain a preferable braking torque in a braking circuit of a 3-phase star-connected induction motor even in the vicinity of a slip at the braking time by connecting a flywheel thyristor across a phase coil, through which a DC current flows at the time of DC braking. CONSTITUTION:Thyristors (THY) 1-6 are connected to 3-phase stator coils of a motor IM, and a flywheel thyristor (THY) 0 is connected in parallel with a stator coil U' between a terminal O led from the neutral point P of the stator coils of the motor IM and a U-phase terminal, through which a DC current flows at the braking time. The conducting angles of the THY 2 and THY 4 are controlled in synchronism with the voltage between the power sources R, S at the braking time, and the U-phase and V-phase stator coils of the motor IM are DC braked. When the THY 0 is simultaneously fired, the pulsation of the braking current flowing through the motor IM becomes small, and preferable braking torque can be obtained even in the vicinity of its slip. In this manner, the braking current is flowed through the stator coil at the braking time, thereby preventing the power source shortcircuit even at the damage or firing timing displacement of the THY 0.
