    • PURPOSE:To improve breaking capacity by making the flow passage of a gas breaker, where the opening of the flow passage from the hollow nozzle provided in a needle is arranged at the side of a cylinder, into the shape of a Laval nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 7 is provided, being divided into a needle base 7a, where a main needle 2 and a needle 4 are placed, and a buffer cylinder 10, and air intake ports are provided apart in three places, and flow passage 9 and openings 10 are provided in three places between the air intake ports. By enlarging the area of the air intake port 14 for blasting gas from a buffer chamber 13 to arc as far as possible and making the passage 9 into the shape of a Labal tube to secure the area of the passage 9, it has solved the magnitudes of the area of the air intake port 14 and that of the passage 9 in contradictory relation. That is, by putting it in the shape of a Laval nozzle, the gas flow speed can be increased, and a limited space can be used effectively, and by the increase of gas flow, interrupting capacity can be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the stable performance ranging from a large current to a small current and reduce the operating force by providing a buffer chamber in a movable contact piece and suppressing the inflow of the high-temperature gas heated by the arc heat at the time of large current cutoff into the buffer chamber. CONSTITUTION:When a lever 14 is operated by an operating device outside a container 1 to the right rotation direction centering a rotary shaft 16, a movable contact piece 11 is driven to the right direction. The gas in a buffer chamber 12 is compressed, an arc is generated between contact pieces 7 and 11. The high-temperature gas heated by the arc heat of an arc-extinguishing chamber 12 is sprayed at the time of large-current cutoff, the gas is sprayed through a spray hole 17a at the time of small-current cutoff to extinguish the arc. A simple breaking section can be constituted with a small structure by utilizing the interior of the movable contact piece 11 as a buffer. The stable performance ranging from a large current to a small current is obtained, the operating force can be reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of a withstand voltage caused by decrease in gas density at the fore end of a fixed contact due to rapid gas flow by supplying high pressure gas to a chamber between first and second throat portions through a gas flowing-in portion when the second throat portion is broken by means of a large diameter portion. CONSTITUTION:Upon starting braking operation, movement of a small diameter portion 11a by means of a first throat portion 4a supplies high pressure gas passing through a gas flowing-in portion B as shown by an arrow 25. Substantial shutout of a large diameter portion 11c by means of a second throat portion 4b eliminates an exhaust area therebetween so as not to hardly form virtual gas flow. This can prevent any decrease in density at the fore end of a fixed contact 11 while maintaining the density in a preferable state. Therefore, even in such a case of breaking a small leading current that an arc between contacts 2 and 11 are lost while a high recovery voltage is applied therebetween, the gas density at the fore end of the contact 11 increases, thereby enhancing a withstand voltage.

    • PURPOSE:To constitute a buffer cylinder without any adverse effect upon breaking, power supply and mechanical performances and make a breaker compact by providing the end plate part of the buffer cylinder with a large diameter part larger than cylinder outer diameter, separating the end plate part from the cylinder part and securing the separated part with bolts. CONSTITUTION:A large diameter part larger than a cylinder part 1b is formed on the external surface of an end plate part 1a, and this large diameter part separates the end plate part 1a from the cylinder part 1b. The separated part is fixed with a set bolt 11 for a movable main contactor 9 and another set bolt 12 for the end plate part 1a and the cylinder part 1b. By providing the large diameter part at the external surface of the end plate part 1a for said separation, the electrically live area of the separated part can be maintained and the area of an air intake part 6 can be kept as conventional, thereby giving no adverse effect to breaking performance. Also, the separated part can be properly fastened with the bolts 11 and 12, and therefore the screwed part thereof is free from a mechanical shock at the time of turning on a breaker, thereby enhancing the mechanical reliability of the breaker.
