    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately correct register deviation due to a change in ambient temperature without reducing the productivity in forming an image by controlling plural image output parts based on the register deviation correction valve which corresponds to the detected ambient temperature. SOLUTION: When a power is supplied and register checking command is given by a control part 15, a pattern signal for detecting the register deviation is generated by a pattern generator 16, and respective image output parts 5 to 8 are operated by the image control part 17 based on the pattern signal. Thus, the register deviation detecting pattern is formed all over an intermediate transfer belt 1, then, the pattern image is read by the register sensor 13. At this time, the register deviation correction value is calculated by a calculation part 18 based on the reading result of the register sensor 13, the calculated register deviation correction value is stored by a memory 19 so as to correspond to the ambient temperature detected by a temperature sensor 14 at the time of checking the register. And the register alignment is performed based on the register deviation correction value stored by memory 19.

    • PURPOSE: To eliminate an image defect such as a deviation in the image and to obtain the excellent color image, by allowing the cleaning device for cleaning the surface of a transfer roll not to operate during the time of image forming by the transfer roller. CONSTITUTION: The cleaning blade 15 is fixed to the toner recovering box 16, and when the transfer roll 10 is in a state separated from the intermediate transfer belt 8, the cleaning blade 15 is in the state capable of cleaning while coming in contact with the transfer roll 10. Then, the device is constituted that the cleaning blade 15 is separated from the transfer roll 10 and imparting no load to the transfer roll 10, when the transfer roll 10 is in the state of coming in contact with the intermediate transfer belt 8. The cleaning device is not actuated at the time of the image transferring operation of the transfer roller 10, and the cleaning device is actuated and the surface of the transfer roll 10 is made cleaning at the non-transferring time only, therefore the load by the cleaning device is not imparted to the transfer roll 10 at the time of the image transferring operation.

    • PURPOSE: To prevent the deviation in color registration caused by a limited phase relation in an image forming rotating phase with respect to a laser beam scanning phase regardless that an integral multiple ratio is realized by enhancing the accuracy of an integral multiple ratio between a laser beam scanning period and an image forming rotation period so as to suppress the deterioration in image quality due to the deterioration in color registration and setting a new integral multiple ratio corresponding to the integral multiple ratio resulting from the change in the recording condition. CONSTITUTION: A laser beam scanning phase and an image forming rotating phase are measured based on a common clock signal outputted from a reference clock generating circuit 113. An integral multiple ratio is set by using a measured value not by a design value and a drive motor control circuit 120 or 140 drives a polygon mirror drive motor 32 or a belt drive motor 103 based on the result of measurement to attain an integral multiple ratio of both the periods. Furthermore, when a recording condition such as an in-equipment temperature is changed, the integral multiple ratio of both the periods is set again. Furthermore, the phase relation is set to a prescribed phase relation by using a delay circuit to delay an image forming rotating signal.

    • PURPOSE: To prolong the life of a belt, to reduce cost and to uniformize performance by making surface pressure generated on the belt uniform and energizing the belt toward a fixed guide. CONSTITUTION: By controlling the projecting length of the plunger 31 of a belt tensile force uniformizing device 30, belt tensile force T1 and T2 in a driving roll 17 and a supporting roll 18 is uniformized. Therefore, the surface pressure in the lateral direction of an intermediate transfer belt 15 becomes uniform. When the belt 15 is carried in a direction shown by an arrow A in such a state, the surface rolls 41 and the back surface rolls 42 of a pair of belt energizing rolls 40 are driven from a belt side and rotated. When the surface rolls 41 on both sides of the belt 15 are rotated, tensile force P1 and P2 (P1 >P2 ) is generated in accordance with tilt angles θ1 and θ2 on the belt 15, and even when waviness is caused on the belt 15, the waviness is eliminated and the belt 15 is smoothed. Simultaneously, the belt 15 is displaced(walk) toward the fixed guide 50 in the relation of the tensile force P1 >P2 , and the end of the belt 15 abuts on the fixed guide 50 by proper force.
