    • PURPOSE:To obtain a transparent heat-sensitive layer enhanced in sensitivity and available for OHP by using a specific compound and a bisphenol compound as at least a part of a color developer. CONSTITUTION:On a substrate, a heat-sensitive layer at least having microcapsules containing an electron donative dye precursor and a color developer is formed. As at least a part of the color developer, a compound shown by a formula I and a bisphenol compound are used. In the formula I: R1 represents hydrogen atom, halogen atom, alkoxy group, alkyl group, and phenyl group; and R2 represents alkoxycarbonyl group which may have substituents, phenoxycarbonyl group, or alkyl group which may have substituents. Hydrogen atom, halogen atom, and alkyl group are preferable among the substituents shown by R1. In this manner, a thermal recording material having a transparent heat-sensitive layer can be efficiently produced with good reproducibility, and the obtained thermal recording material is improved in transparency.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having a high sensitivity and a transparent thermal recording layer which can be used for an overhead projector, by using a specified compound as part of a color developer. CONSTITUTION:A compound of general formula (I) is used as part of a color developer, in a thermal recording material in which a thermal recording layer comprising at least color former containing microcapsules and the color developer is provided on a support. In the formula, R is hydrogen, a halogen, ester group or substd. or unsubstd. alkyl. The compound of general formula (I) can be easily obtained by bringing the corresponding phenols and an allyl halide into reaction with each other in the presence of a base, taking out a phenol allyl ether compound thus formed, and heating the ether compound. The base may be sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate or the like, and the reaction solvent may be acetone, dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide or the like. The reaction is carried out at a temperature ranging from room temperature to 150 deg.C for a period of time of 1-20hr.

SOLUTION: In the heat-sensitive recording material in which at least two heat-sensitive recording layers comprising at least a diazo-compound and a coupling ingredient developing a color by reacting with the diazo-compound are provided on a substrate, the heat-sensitive recording material is characterized by (1) the main absorbing wave length (λmax) of the diazo-compound being at most 470 nm, (2) the diazo compound being encapsuled in a microcapsule and (3) containing at least one kind of a substituted aryl sulfone-amide expressed by general formula (I) in the heat-sensitive recording layer as a plasticizer for the microcapsule wall and R is a 2-16C alkyl group or a 1-16C alkoxy group in the formula.

Here; X1-X4 are atomic groups necessary for forming a five-member aromatic heterocyclic compound respectively; Y represents an alkyl group which may have an amino group, substituted amino group, hydroxide group, alkoxy group or a substituted group; L represents a substituted group releasable upon coupling with the diazonium salt; EWG1 and EWG2 represent an independent electron attracting group respectively.
